3A/3B Mathematics Specialist Non-Routine Problems

Note that some problems may be posted here before we have covered the skills and concepts I expect you to use to solve them. Don't let that stop you. Most mathematical problems can be solved in more than one way.

When you have solved a problem you should add a link underneath the problem for your solution, then put your solution on a new page on the wiki. (See Editing if you're not sure how to do that, or ask me.)

Resist the temptation to look at other students' solutions before you've worked a problem out for yourself.

Note: Most tests and exams will have at least one non-routine question.

Finally, feel free to add your own problems here. Writing non-routine questions is an excellent way of exercising your understanding.

  2. Combustion
  3. Continuously Variable Transmission
  4. Why can't I focus my telescope?
